Obtained his BA degree from UC Irvine in Social Ecology in 1981
and his Masters in Counseling Psychology from Pepperdine University
in 1991.
From 1995-2003, he served as President of The S.E.E.D. Institute,
a non-profit business incubator for disabled entrepreneurs.
A Quadriplegic and wheelchair user for over 40 years, he has helped
hundreds of individuals with disabilities overcome their psychological
and physical barriers to self-employment
Received the Spirit of Volunteerism award from the Orange County
Volunteer Center in 1998 for his work as board president of The S.E.E.D.
Institute.
Received the Stephen Aroff Memorial Award from Wyngs Spinal Cord
Injury Association in 2006 as a role model and inspiration to the
community.
Founded The Seed Business Network a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization
in 2003, using a holistic approach to help people with disabilities
develop the social and life skills they need to be successful in business.
Developed the first annual seminar of it's kind in Orange County
CA focusing on Self-Employment and the Disabled, hosted by Irvine
Valley College starting in 1996.
Co-founder of The S.E.E.D. Institute in 1996 and Executive Director
until 2003. The S.E.E.D. Institute received establishment grants form
and contracted with the CA State Department of Rehabilitation to provide
self-employment training and technical assistance to entrepreneurs
with disabilities.
Created a custom training program and accompanying workbook for
both consumers with disabilities and vocational rehabilitation professionals.
Nominated by the National Association of Women Business Owners and
won the National Home Based Business Advocate of the Year award from
the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2001.
Worked with the Rural Institute at University of Montana as one
of their self-employment and disability experts as part of a pilot
program providing technical assistance to voc rehab counselors nationwide.
Currently works as a marketing consultant that specializes in nonprofit
organizations.
